Albany is a flourishing city with a excellent range of both High Street and boutique stores to satisfy visitors of all ages. Albany CBD can be explored on foot although many of the additional shopping opportunites may require transportation as they spread out over a 7km radius.
The main CBD (Town Centre) Shopping Precinct is concentrated around York Street which gently slopes from the main roudabout at the top of town, down to the level of Princess Royal Harbour at the ANZAC Peace Park. Albany Peace Park is the centre of what is known as the Albany Foreshore and the impressive Albany Entertainment Centre rises above the surrounding landscape offering unparralelled views out onto Princess Royal Harbour.
Shopping along the town centre on York Street has a vibrant atmosphere has plenty of different kinds of shops to engage event the most reluctant shopper! Ideal for cruise ship visitors and those who want to access many shops on foot, without leaving town.
With plenty of places to eat you can easily spend the day browsing and eating!
Check out the sensationally scented bath and body stores, exquisite boutiques, a selection of souvenirs and homewares and a sweet shop complete with Willy Wonka vibe, these experiences can be found whilst meandering on York Street.
Shopping along Stirling Terrace overlooks Princess Royal Harbour and contains many heritage listed buldings including the National Bank Building (Vancouver House) and is a landmark view of the town. The footbridge from the Albany Entertainment Center and Albany Foreshore precinct delivers you straight into the middle of the Terrace. The town of Albany in the turn of the century (1900s to 2000s) looked a lot like this stretch of street today. The Victorian and Fedoration buildings are living examples of a precinct that one hundred years ago was a commercial port hub.
From the roundabout at the top of York Street you will find Lockyer Avenue. Lockyer Ave includes a great range of stores including health food, woolworths, computer, op-shops, plus other eateries including Fish and Chips, Chinese and Pizza. This is where the Dog Rock Shopping Centre is located, at the top end near the central York Street roundabout
The Albany Highway is also lined with an array of shops including well stocked camping and sports stores, office supplies, motels, petrol stations, op-shop and even a fantastic retro second hand store - though these are much further spaced than both York Street and Lockyer Avenue.. These are not far from the Town Centre and are easily reached from the cetnre of town.
The Albany Plaza, the main shopping centre in Albany, is located just off the roundabout at the end of Albany Highway and York Street.
Chester Pass Road is a main road out of town with stores on both sides, and on the right you will find the Chester Pass Mall, Bunnings and Harvey Norman. This main shopping parade is home to a fab Harley Davison Showroom, large specialty stores, op shops, camping stores, car wash, catering supply store and numerous others. The Chester Pass Mall has additional stores inside, including Wooworths.
